The Place Jacques-Cartier is a large public square in Old Montreal consisting of various restaurants and shops. It is a major tourist hub in Montreal, attracting plenty of tourists from across Quebec, Canada, the United States and around the world. It is just steps away from the Quai Jacques-Cartier, the Old Port of Montreal's most important quay, and the cobblestone streets of Rue Saint-Paul, Montreal's oldest street.

On New Year's Eve, the Place Jacques-Cartier attracts thousands of revelers for a large concert and fireworks show at the stroke of midnight. The concert is televised every year on local media.
